Agent, Epistemology, and AI

چکیده
In this talk, I will show how our knowledge and belief are changed by agent communication. We apply dynamic epistemic logic to subtle differences of the result of agent communication, e.g., what is informed, what is known to each other, and what is aware of for each agent. En route, we discuss the reliability of information source, including the notion of communication channel. Thereafter, we apply the idea to analyze several legal cases, and try to explain the relation between the suspect’s intention, the result, and his/her predictability of causality in them. Elementary epistemological features of machine intelligence
Theoretical analysis of machine intelligence (MI) is useful for defining a common platform in both theoretical and applied artificial intelligence (AI). The goal of this paper is to set canonical definitions that can assist pragmatic research in both strong and weak AI. Described epistemological features of machine intelligence include relationship between intelligent behavior, intelligent and ...
متن کاملConnectionist Synthetic Epistemology: Requirements for the Development of Objectivity
A connectionist system that is capable of learning about the spatial structure of a simple world is used for the purposes of synthetic epistemology: the creation and analysis of artificial systems in order to clarify philosophical issues that arise in the explanation of how agents, both natural and artificial, represent the world. In this case, the issues to be clarified focus on the content of...
متن کاملUn Mécanisme Constructiviste d'Apprentissage Automatique d'Anticipations pour des Agents Artificiels Situés
(17) This research is characterized, first, by a theoretical discussion on the concept of autonomous agent, based on elements taken from the Situated AI and the Affective AI paradigms. Secondly, this thesis presents the problem of learning world models, providing a bibliographic review regarding some related works. From these discussions, the CAES architecture and the CALM mechanism are present...
متن کاملPetitagé: A Case Study in Developmental Robotics
In the present paper we describe several autonomous agent architectures developed in the last 5 years, and inspired by mostly by Piaget’s genetic epistemology. In the introduction part we give an overview of the developments in AI and robotics after the behaviorist turn in the mid ‘80s and propose a tentative taxonomy of the approaches that followed according to their treatment of representatio...
متن کاملOn the Role of Interactive Epistemology in Multiagent Planning
This paper focuses on the foundational role of interactive epistemology in the problem of generating plans for rational agents in multiagent settings. Interactive epistemology deals with the logic of knowledge and belief when there is more than one agent. In multiagent settings, we are interested in not only the agent’s knowledge of the state of the world, but also its belief over the other age...
